How Bristol Tix works
A safer way to pass on tickets than a Snapchat story and a bank transfer to a stranger.
Everyone is a Bristol student or staff member
You can only sign in with an address ending @bristol.ac.uk. Other people see a made-up public name, never your real one, until you buy or sell a ticket with them.
Buying
- Find the event. Every ticket listed for it is on one page, cheapest first, with the original face value next to the asking price.
- Pay Bristol Tix by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your money is held by our payment provider. The seller can’t touch it yet.
- The seller sends the ticket, using the ticketing app’s own transfer where it has one (Fixr, DICE, Skiddle, Native) or by uploading the ticket file into your order. They have 24 hours, or until the event starts if that’s sooner. If they don’t send it, you get a full refund automatically.
- You check it and confirm. If something is wrong, report it from your order and the money stays frozen while we look into it.
Can’t find a ticket? Open the event and tap Alert me. We’ll email you the moment one is listed.
Selling
- Choose the event, or add it if it isn’t here yet.
- Set your price and how you’ll send the ticket. You get exactly the price you set; the buyer pays a separate fee.
- When it sells, we email you the buyer’s details and the exact steps for that ticketing app.
- You’re paid 24 hours after sending an in-app transfer (sooner if the buyer confirms). For tickets sent as a PDF or screenshot, you’re paid the morning after the event, because a file can be forwarded more than once.
Before listing, check the organiser allows the ticket to be passed on. Some events check the name on the ticket against your ID.
Rules that keep it fair
- Up to 4 tickets per person per event, so nobody can buy up an event to resell it.
- No contact details or payment arrangements in listings. Paying outside Bristol Tix means you’re not protected.
- Face value is shown on every listing, and marked when we’ve checked it against the organiser.
- Anyone who sells a ticket twice or fails to deliver loses the ability to sell.
